
Val Clemente
Val Clemente is a Brazilian Zouk teacher and director from Rio de Janeiro with more than 25 years’ experience in ballroom dancing. Throughout his career, he has taught, judged, and supported the development of Zouk communities in over 30 countries.
He is a Director of the Brazilian Zouk Dance Council (BZDC), working to promote the growth and global recognition of Brazilian Zouk. He is widely respected in Brazil and abroad for his dedication to art, pedagogy, and the cultural evolution of Zouk.
For seven years he was part of the Cia Conexão Art, a renowned Brazilian dance company that deeply influenced his artistic and technical formation. He later joined the Cia Carioca de Dança, where he served as director and choreographer for three years, expanding his experience in creation and artistic leadership. He also served as general director of Espaço Cultural Ritmo e Movimento for four years, coordinating activities, projects, and events promoting dance and culture.
With his long-time dance partner, Vanessa Bonilha, Val developed innovative approaches to teaching and community building. Together they co-created Zouk Needs You, a global educational initiative that empowers dancers and instructors through structured methodology and mentorship, fostering Zouk’s development worldwide.
Val continues to inspire dancers and professionals around the world to grow with purpose, technique, and connection.
