Laura is a Brazilian Zouk dancer, organizer, blogger, and teacher based in Canada, with professional expertise in adjudication, governance, and policy for large organizations. Her work combines a strong involvement in the dance community with extensive professional experience in organizational structures and decision-making processes.
In 2014, prior to the creation of BZDC, she and her partner organized one of the first Brazilian Zouk events to feature Jack & Jill competitions, helping to introduce and support competitive formats within the growing international Zouk scene.
Her other dance-related work includes organizing major events such as Canada Zouk Congress and Zouk the North, as well as contributing to the community through writing and education. She runs the Dancing Grapevine blog, where she shares insights, reflections, and information about the Brazilian Zouk world. Laura is also the founder and director of dZouk Brazilian Dance Centre in Toronto, Canada, a space dedicated to the development and growth of Brazilian Zouk dancers in the region.
