Alex de Carvalho

Alex de Carvalho began his dance career in 1996 at the renowned Centro de Dança Jaime Arôxa. From the start, he stood out for technical and artistic excellence, gaining national recognition through appearances on Brazilian TV shows, series, and soap operas. He quickly established himself as a reference in partner dancing, being invited to mentor and collaborate with numerous schools across the country.

On television, he was especially noted for “Dança dos Famosos”, the Brazilian version of “Dancing with the Stars,” where he trained and partnered with Hortência Marcari, the internationally acclaimed former basketball player.

For his cultural work promoting dance as a tool for Culture, Education, and Social Inclusion, he received in 2009 the Medalha Tiradentes, the highest honor granted by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro.

Today, Alex serves in international leadership roles: Director of the Brazilian Zouk Dance Council (BZDC), President of Associação Salão Brasil in Paris, Manager of the DanceLib app for Brazilian Zouk and Samba de Gafieira divisions, and a member of the Dance Professionals’ Union of Rio de Janeiro.

For 18 years he led the CDAC – Centro de Dança Alex de Carvalho, one of Brazil’s most prestigious dance schools, and for 11 years he has directed DBAC – Brazilian Zouk, in Paris, France.

Based in Paris, he dedicates himself to the training, qualification, and mentorship of dance professionals at a global level, and is recognized as one of the leading international artists in his field. His contribution includes developing many of today’s foremost Brazilian Zouk dancers worldwide.
