Become a Head Judge prepared to represent BZDC standards at official events around the world.
Leading a Judging Panel

Learn how to organize, brief, and support a complete judging team. This module covers panel structure, role expectations, score calibration, communication with the competition coordinator, and how to create a calm environment where judges can work with focus. You will practice leading pre-competition meetings, explaining criteria clearly, and helping the panel stay aligned without influencing individual judgment.
Consistency and Quality Control

Develop tools to monitor the quality of the judging process from the first preliminary heat to the final results. You will learn how to identify scoring inconsistencies, handle unusual situations, review procedures with the scoring team, and keep decisions aligned with BZDC standards. The course also explores how to document relevant issues so organizers and the council can improve future events.
Final Decisions and Event Responsibility
Practice the judgment calls that define the Head Judge role: resolving ties, handling conflicts of interest, responding to competitor questions, and deciding when a procedure needs to be corrected. You will learn how to balance different judge perspectives, communicate final decisions with respect, and protect the credibility of the competition while staying grounded in the official rules.
